PSALM 9:9-20
METER:  10 10 11 11
SUGGESTED TUNE:  LYONS OR HANOVER
This is in the same meter as the hymn "O Worship the King"
1.  The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
    When troubled times come, God is our stronghold.
    Those who know you, Lord, will put their trust in you.
    You do not abandon those who come to you.
2.  Sing praise to the Lord who in Zion dwells;
    Among peoples all let his deeds be told.
    He who blood avenges is mindful of them;
    He does not forget the afflicted one's cry.
3.  Be gracious to me!  Lord, see how I hurt
    From my enemies.  You save me from death,
    That I may recall all your praises, and in
    Jerusalem I may rejoice 'cause you save.
4.  The nations have sunk into their own pit;
    They have been caught in their very own trap.
    God made himself known by his judgments so just;
    The wicked are caught by their very own deeds.
5.  The wicked shall die--'tis their destiny;
    All those who forget and turn from the Lord.
    The needy shall not always forgotten be,
    The hope of the poor shall not perish for aye.
6.  Arise then, O Lord!  Let flesh not defy,
    But let all the lands before you be judged.
    O make them afraid, Lord, and make them to know
    That all of the nations are mortal and frail.
