PSALM 86:11-17

This is the meter of such hymns as "O God, Our Help in Ages Past" and "Am I a Soldier of the Cross."
1. Teach me, Lord, to walk in your truth,
My heart to fear your name.
I thank you, Lord, with my whole heart,
I'll glorify you e'er.
2. Great is your steadfast love toward me,
You saved me from Sheol.
The insolent rise against me,
The ruthless seek my life.
3. But you, O Lord, are always full
Of mercy and of grace.
You're slow to anger and abound
In love and faithfulness.
4. Turn to me, mercy have on me,
And give your servant strength.
Save me, for I'm your faithful child,
Child of your serving girl.
5. Show me a sign of favor, that
My adversaries see
And be ashamed, for you, O Lord,
Have helped and strengthened me.
