1. O God, the nations have come
Into your heritage.
They have defiled your Temple
And wrecked Jerusalem.
They gave your servants' bodies
To be the food of birds,
The flesh of all your faithful
As carrion for wild beasts.
2. They poured their blood like water
And buried not the dead.
Our neighbors ridicule us,
They mock and they deride.
How long will you be angry?
Lord, will your wrath consume?
Pour your wrath on the nations
That don't call on your name.
3. Lord, do not hold against us
What our forebears have done;
Come quickly with compassion,
For we have been brought low.
Help us, God of salvation,.
That we may praise your name.
Deliver us, forgive us,
Because of who you are.
