PSALM 78:1-7
METER: 77 77 77
SUGGESTED TUNE: DIX
('This is the meter of the hymn "For the Beauty of the Earth")
1. List-en, all, to what I teach,
Pay heed to what I shall say.
I will speak in par-a-bles
And tell mys-t'ries from the past.
Things that we have heard made known,
That our par-ents told to us.
2. We won't hide them from our young,
We will tell those yet to come,
All the might-y deeds of God,
All the won-ders he has done.
He gave laws to Is-ra-el,
And com-mand-ments to Ja-cob.
3. God in-struct-ed our fore-bears
To teach these laws to our young,
So those yet un-born will know,
Pass-ing them on to their young,
So that they should hope in God,
Not for-get, but keep his laws.
