PSALM 78:1-4, 12-16
METER: 77 77 77 77 77
SUGGESTED TUNE: MENDELSSOHN
This is the meter for the hymn "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing."
1. List-en, all, to what I teach,
Pay heed to what I shall say.
I will speak in par-a-bles
And tell mys-t'ries from the past.
Things that we have heard made known,
That our par-ents told to us.
We won't hide them from our young,
We will tell those yet to come,
All the might-y deeds of God,
All the won-ders he has done.
2. In our fore-bears' sight he did
Won-ders great on E-gypt's plain.
God did split the sea in two,
Made the wa-ter stand like walls.
By day he led with a cloud,
All night with a fie-ry light.
In the des-ert he split rocks,
Giv-ing wa-ter from the ground.
He brought streams out of the rock;
Like a riv-er wa-ter flowed.
