PSALM 65
METER: 10 10 11 11
SUGGESTED TUNES: HANOVER or LYONS
This is the meter of such hymns as "O Worship the King" and "Ye Servants of God."
NOTE: If using only vv. 8-13 (an option for Proper 10, Year A), use stanzas 4 and 5.
1. O God, it is right to praise you in Zi'n
And keep our vows, for you an-swer our pray'rs.
All flesh will come to you be-cause of their sins.
When our faults de-feat us, all them you for-give.
2. Blest are they you choose to live in your courts.
Your Tem-ple's good things shall sat-is-fy us.
With dread deeds you save us, our Sav-ior, our God,
The hope of all earth and the farth-est of seas.
3. The moun-tains you raised to show forth your strength.
You calm the seas' roar, the peo-ples' uproar.
The whole world is awed by the great things you've done;
And joy-ous shouts rise from earth's ends at your deeds.
4. You nur-ture the earth, en-rich it with rain;
Your riv-er is full, the grain you pro-vide.
You send rains a-bun-dant up-on the plowed fields.
You set-tle it, soft-en it, bless it with growth.
5. Rich har-vests you give, plen-ty fol-lows you.
The pas-tures have flocks, the hills ring with joy.
The mea-dows have sheep, and the val-leys bear grain,
And ev-ery-thing shouts forth and sings out for joy.
