This meter is that of such hymns as "Savior, Teach Me Day by Day", "There's a Spirit in the Air", or the stanzas of "Jesus Loves Me."
1. Quietly I wait for God,
My hope is in him alone.
He alone protects and saves;
He defends--I shall not fall.
2. On him my salvation rests,
God is my refuge and rock.
People, always trust in God,
Pour your heart out unto him.
3. God alone gives us refuge.
Poor ones are like puffs of breath,
Rich folk are only a lie,
On the scales they're light as breath.
4. Do not trust in violence,
Hope in robbery is vain;
Even if you riches gain,
Do not stake your life on them.
5. More than once I've heard God say,
Pow'r is his, his love is sure.
God will repay ev'ryone
