PSALM 62:5-12
METER: 77 77
SUGGESTED TUNES: ORIENTIS PARTIBUS or JESUS LOVES ME (stanzas only)
This meter is that of such hymns as "Savior, Teach Me Day by Day", "There's a Spirit in the Air", or the stanzas of "Jesus Loves Me."
1. Qui-et-ly I wait for God,
My hope is in him a-lone.
He a-lone pro-tects and saves;
He de-fends--I shall not fall.
2. On him my sal-va-tion rests,
God is my ref-uge and rock.
Peo-ple, al-ways trust in God,
Pour your heart out un-to him.
3. God a-lone gives us ref-uge.
Poor ones are like puffs of breath,
Rich folk are on-ly a lie,
On the scales they're light as breath.
4. Do not trust in vi-o-lence,
Hope in rob-ber-y is vain;
E-ven if you rich-es gain,
Do not stake your life on them.
5. More than once I've heard God say,
Pow'r is his, his love is sure.
God will re-pay ev-ery-one
In ac-cord with what they've done.
