PSALM 46

This is the meter of such hymns as "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "He Leadeth Me"
1. God is our refuge and our strength,
In trouble he's a present help.
We will not fear though earth should change,
Or mountains fall into the sea,
E'en if the sea should roar and foam,
And violence cause the hills to shake.
The Lord Almighty is with us,
The God of Jacob shelters us.
2. A stream makes God's own city glad,
The sacred house of the Most High.
God's in her, she won't be destroyed
For God will help her early on.
The nations rage, the kingdoms fall,
He only speaks, and earth dissolves.
The Lord Almighty is with us,
The God of Jacob shelters us.
3. Come, see the doings of the Lord,
Who desolation brings to earth.
He makes wars cease; he breaks the bow
And spear; the chariot he consumes.
"Be still, and know that I am God,
I reign supreme o'er all the earth."

The God of Jacob shelters us.
