PSALM 46

This is the meter of such hymns as "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "He Leadeth Me"
1. God is our ref-uge and our strength,
In trou-ble he's a pres-ent help.
We will not fear though earth should change,
Or moun-tains fall into the sea,
E'en if the sea should roar and foam,
And vio-lence cause the hills to shake.
The Lord Al-might-y is with us,
The God of Ja-cob shel-ters us.
2. A stream makes God's own cit-y glad,
The sa-cred house of the Most High.
God's in her, she won't be de-stroyed
For God will help her ear-ly on.
The na-tions rage, the king-doms fall,
He on-ly speaks, and earth dis-solves.
The Lord Al-might-y is with us,
The God of Ja-cob shel-ters us.
3. Come, see the do-ings of the Lord,
Who des-o-la-tion brings to earth.
He makes wars cease; he breaks the bow
And spear; the char-iot he con-sumes.
"Be still, and know that I am God,
I reign su-preme o'er all the earth."

The God of Ja-cob shel-ters us.
