PSALM 40:1-11
METER: LMD (88 88 D)
SUGGESTED TUNE: HE LEADETH ME
1. I wait-ed pa-tient-ly for God;
He turned to me and heard my cry.
He pulled me from a dead-ly pit,
He saved me from the mi-ry bog.
God set my feet upon a rock,
My steps he gave se-cur-i-ty.
He put a new song in my mouth,
A song of praise un-to our God.
2. Man-y who see will warn-ing take,
And put their trust in God the Lord.
Hap-py are those who trust the Lord
Rath-er than i-dols and false gods.
Lord, won-drous things you've done for us;
There is no one as great as you.
So won-drous are your plans for us,
Far more than I could ev-er tell.
3. You don't want of-fered sac-ri-fice;
Burnt gifts for sin you do not ask.
You've giv-en me an ear to hear;
So I have said, "Lord, here I am!
My faith-ful-ness you've writ-ten down;
I love to do your will, O God,
I keep your teach-ings in my heart."
I've told the news of how you save.
4. In the as-sem-bly of your own
You know I've not re-strained my lips.
Your sav-ing help I've hid-den not;
I tell your sav-ing faith-ful-ness;
Your stead-fast love and faith-ful-ness
I do not from your peo-ple hide.
Don't keep your mer-cy from me, Lord;
In faith-ful love, Lord, keep me safe.
