This is the meter of such hymns as "Abide with Me."

1.  An-swer me when I call, O God my help!

    When I in trou-ble was, you aid-ed me.

    Be gra-cious to me, Lord, hear now my pray'r.

    Be gra-cious to me, Lord, hear now my pray'r.

2.  How long, you peo-ple, will you in-sult me?

    How long will you love lies and van-i-ty?

    Know that God chose the ones who god-ly are;

    He hears me when I call un-to his name.

3.  Trem-ble with fear lest you fall into sin;

    Lie qui-et-ly in bed, and think on this:

    Off-er right sac-ri-fice and trust in God.

    Off-er right sac-ri-fice and trust in God.

4.  Man-y pray, "We wish we could see some good.

    Lift up your count-e-nance up-on us, Lord!"

    But I've more joy than those with har-vests great.

    I sleep in peace, for you, Lord, keep me safe.
