This is the meter of such hymns as "Jesus Shall Reign" and "Lord, Speak to Me"
1. Hap-py are they who are for-giv'n,
Who have been par-doned for their sins.
Blest they in whom God finds no wrong
And who are free from all de-ceit.
2. When I did not con-fess my sins,
I cried un-til I was worn out.
You pun-ished me till strength was drained
Like moist-ure dried by sum-mer's heat.
3. Then I con-fessed my sins to you;
I did not hide what I had done,
But said, "I will con-fess my sin."
And you for-gave me all my guilt.
4. Let saints pray to you when in need;
When trou-bles flood, they won't be reached.
You hide me, sav-ing me from woe;
Sur-round-ing me, you keep me safe.
5. God says, "I'll teach you in my way,
Ad-vise you in the way to go.
Don't be dull like a horse or mule
Which needs a bri-dle and a bit."
6. The wick-ed suf-fer many pains.
Love sur-rounds those who trust in God.
Be glad in him, re-joice, O saints,
And shout for joy, you god-ly ones!
