PSALM 30
METER:  87 87 67 67
TUNE:  GREENSLEEVES
Best known as the tune for "What Child Is This?"

1.  I will extol you, Lord our God,
    For you have brought salvation;
    You kept my mortal enemies
    From gloating o'er my downfall.
    O Lord, I cried for help
    And you brought healing to me.
    From death you saved my soul,
    And you restored life to me.
2.  Sing praise to God, O you his saints,
    Give thanks to his name holy.
    His anger for a moment lasts,
    His favor lasts a lifetime.
    Weeping may last the night,
    But joy comes with the morning.
    Weeping may last the night,
    But joy comes with the morning.
3.  I said in my prosperity,
    "I never shall be shaken."
    Your favor had established me
    With strength like to a mountain.
    But then you hid your face,
    And then dismay came o'er me.
    But then you hid your face,
    And then dismay came o'er me.
4.  To you, O Lord my God, I cried,
    And supplication rendered:
    "What profit is there if I die,
    If to the Pit I go down?
    Lord, will the dust praise you?
    Will it tell that you're faithful?
    Hear and be gracious, Lord!
    O Lord, you are my helper!
5.  My mourning you have turned to dance;
    My sackcloth you have taken
    And girded me with clothes of joy;
    My soul will not be silent.
    My soul will praise you, Lord;
    I'll give you thanks forever.
    My soul will praise you, Lord;
    I'll give you thanks forever.
