PSALM 30
METER: 87 87 67 67
TUNE: GREENSLEEVES
Best known as the tune for "What Child Is This?"
1. I will ex-tol you, Lord our God,
For you have brought sal-va-tion;
You kept my mor-tal en-e-mies
From gloat-ing o'er my down-fall.
O Lord, I cried for help
And you brought heal-ing to me.
From death you saved my soul,
And you re-stored life to me.
2. Sing praise to God, O you his saints,
Give thanks to his name ho-ly.
His an-ger for a mo-ment lasts,
His fa-vor lasts a life-time.
Weep-ing may last the night,
But joy comes with the morn-ing.
Weep-ing may last the night,
But joy comes with the morn-ing.
3. I said in my pros-per-i-ty,
"I nev-er shall be shak-en."
Your fa-vor had es-tab-lished me
With strength like to a moun-tain.
But then you hid your face,
And then dis-may came o'er me.
But then you hid your face,
And then dis-may came o'er me.
4. To you, O Lord my God, I cried,
And sup-pli-ca-tion ren-dered:
"What pro-fit is there if I die,
If to the Pit I go down?
Lord, will the dust praise you?
Will it tell that you're faith-ful?
Hear and be gra-cious, Lord!
O Lord, you are my help-er!
5. My mourn-ing you have turned to dance;
My sack-cloth you have tak-en
And gird-ed me with clothes of joy;
My soul will not be si-lent.
My soul will praise you, Lord;
I'll give you thanks for-ev-er.
My soul will praise you, Lord;
I'll give you thanks for-ev-er.
