PSALM 16
METER: 11 10 11 10 11 10
SUGGESTED TUNE: FINLANDIA
This is the meter of the hymn "Be Still, My Soul"
1. Pro-tect me, God; I trust in you for safe-ty.
I say, "You are my God; all good's from you."
How no-ble are the saints, God's faith-ful peo-ple.
My great-est plea-sure is to be with them.
Those who choose other gods know only trou-ble.
I will not wor-ship them or speak their names.
2. God gives me food, he e'er is my pro-vid-er;
He gives fine things to me that give me joy.
I bless the Lord who ev-er does in-struct me,
And in the night gives guid-ance in my heart.
I keep the pres-ence of the Lord be-fore me;
I am not shak-en, for he's al-ways near.
3. There-fore my heart is glad, my soul re-joic-es.
My bod-y also al-ways is se-cure.
You do not give me up to lands of shad-ow,
Nor leave your faith-ful in the land of death.
The path of life you show to me; your pres-ence
Gives joy and plea-sure for e-ter-ni-ty.
