PSALM 148 METER: 87 87 D SUGGESTED TUNES: AUSTRIA, HYMN TO JOY, or BEECHER This is the same meter as such hymns as "Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken," "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee," and "Love Divine, All Loves Excelling." 1. Praise the Lord! Praise God from heaven; Praise God from the heights above. Praise God, heav'nly host and angels; Praise God, sun and moon and stars. Praise the Lord, you highest heavens, And the waters up above. Let them praise the name of Yahweh, For God spoke and they were made. 2. God established them forever, Fixed their bounds, where they must stay. Let all praise from earth the Lord God, Ocean depths and those therein. Fire and hail, and snow and frost, too, Stormy wind that obeys God! Fruit trees, cedars, hills and mountains, Beasts and cattle, snakes and birds! 3. Kings and rulers, ev'ry people, Men and women, young and old! Let them praise God's holy name, for It alone is lifted high. God is glorious over all things. God has made the people strong, So the faithful people praise God, Israel, which God holds dear. Reprinted by permission of the publisher from Supplementary Volume to Sing the Psalms! by Dale A.
