PSALM 146
METER: SM (66 86)
SUGGESTED TUNE: ST. THOMAS (WILLIAMS)
This is the same meter as the hymn "I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord")
1. O praise the Lord, my soul!
I'll praise long as I live;
I will sing prais-es to my God
As long as I have breath.
2. Do not re-ly on kings,
On hu-mans, who can't help;
For when they die they turn to dust,
And their plans are no more.
3. Hap-py the one whose help
Is found in Ja-cob's God,
Whose hope is in the Lord our God
Who made the heav'n and earth,
4. The sea and all the life
That in cre-a-tion dwells.
For-ev-er is his faith-ful-ness;
Just is he to th' op-pressed.
5. He feeds the hun-gry ones;
He sets the pris-oners free;
He makes the blind to see a-gain,
The fall-en he lifts up.
6. God loves the right-eous ones,
For so-jour-ners he cares,
Wid-ows and or-phans he up-holds,
But brings the wick-ed down.
7. For-ev-er shall God reign,
Your God, Je-ru-sa-lem,
Shall reign to gen-e-ra-tions all.
His ho-ly name be praised!
