PSALM 138
METER: 14 14 11 8
SUGGESTED TUNE: LOBE DEN HERREN
This is the meter of the hymn "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty"
1. I'll praise you, Lord, with my whole heart; I sing prais-es to you.
Be-fore your Tem-ple I bow down and give thanks un-to you,
For con-stant is your love and your faith-ful-ness;
You sur-pass your rep-u-ta-tion.
2. You an-swered when I called, and my weak soul you did strength-en.
Rul-ers of earth, Lord, shall praise you, for your words have they heard.
And they shall sing of all the ways of the Lord;
Great is the glo-ry of Yah-weh.
3. Though God is high, he takes ser-ious-ly all of the hum-ble.
Haugh-ty ones can-not hide from him, though they far a-way be.
You save my life; when trou-bles are all a-round,
You save me from ad-ver-sar-ies.
4. God will ful-fill the great pur-pose that he has as-signed me.
Your stead-fast love, O Lord, is ev-er-last-ing un-to me.
Do not for-sake all of the work of your hands.
Do not a-ban-don your great work.
