PSALM 138 METER: 14 14 11 8 SUGGESTED TUNE: LOBE DEN HERREN This is the meter of the hymn "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty" 1. I'll praise you, Lord, with my whole heart; I sing praises to you. Before your Temple I bow down and give thanks unto you, For constant is your love and your faithfulness; You surpass your reputation. 2. You answered when I called, and my weak soul you did strengthen. Rulers of earth, Lord, shall praise you, for your words have they heard. And they shall sing of all the ways of the Lord; Great is the glory of Yahweh. 3. Though God is high, he takes seriously all of the humble. Haughty ones cannot hide from him, though they far away be. You save my life; when troubles are all around, You save me from adversaries. 4. God will fulfill the great purpose that he has assigned me. Your steadfast love, O Lord, is everlasting unto me. Do not forsake all of the work of your hands. Do not abandon your great work. Reprinted by permission of the publisher from Sing the Psalms! by Dale A. Schoening. Copyright 1988 Dale A. Schoening. |
