1. I lift my eyes to you, enthroned in heav'n.
As servants' eyes look to their master's hand,
Or as a maid unto her mistress looks,
We look to God, until he mercy shows.
2. Have mercy, Lord, have mercy, Lord, on us,
For we have had more than enough contempt.
We've had enough contempt from wealthy ones,
Proud ones have scorned us more than we can bear.
