1. I was glad when they said to me,
"Let us go to Yahweh's house!"
We're inside your gates, Jerus'lem,
Standing here to worship God.
God's own city, built so strongly,
Unto which God's tribes go up,
2. As he decreed unto Israel,
To give thanks to Yahweh's name.
Here sat Israel's kings in judgment,
E'en the thrones of David's house.
Pray for the peace of Jerus'lem,
"May they prosper who love you!"
3. "May peace dwell within your walls, and
May your towers e'er be secure."
For the sake of friends and kinfolk
I'll say, "Peace be within you!"
For the sake of Yahweh's temple
I will always seek your good.
