PSALM 122
SETTING A
METER: 87 87 87
SUGGESTED TUNE: REGENT SQUARE
This is the meter for such hymns as "Angels from the Realms of Glory."
1. I was glad when they said to me,
"Let us go to Yah-weh's house!"
We're in-side your gates, Je-rus-'lem,
Stand-ing here to wor-ship God.
God's own cit-y, built so strong-ly,
Un-to which God's tribes go up,
2. As he de-creed unto Is-rael,
To give thanks to Yah-weh's name.
Here sat Is-rael's kings in judg-ment,
E'en the thrones of Da-vid's house.
Pray for the peace of Je-rus-'lem,
"May they pros-per who love you!"
3. "May peace dwell with-in your walls, and
May your tow'rs e'er be se-cure."
For the sake of friends and kin-folk
I'll say, "Peace be with-in you!"
For the sake of Yah-weh's tem-ple
I will al-ways seek your good.
