PSALM 114
METER: LM (88 88)
SUGGESTED TUNE: OLD 100TH
This is the meter of such hymns as "Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow."
1. When Is-ra-el left E-gypt's land,
When Ja-cob's house left for-eign soil,
Ju-dah be-came God's sanc-tua-ry,
And Is-rael God's do-min-ion was.
2. The sea looked and then ran away;
The Jor-dan Riv-er stopped its flow.
The moun-tains skipped and leaped like goats,
The hills like lambs and kids did jump.
3. O sea, what made you run a-way?
O Jor-dan, why'd you stop your flow?
You moun-tains, why'd you skip like goats?
And hills, why did you jump like lambs?
4. Earth, trem-ble at the Lord's pres-ence,
Be-fore the face of Ja-cob's God,
Who turns the rock in-to a pool,
And from flint brings forth flow-ing springs.
