PSALM 107:1-7, 33-37
METER: 77 77 77
SUGGESTED TUNE: DIX
This is the meter for such hymns as "For the Beauty of the Earth"
1. Give God thanks, for he is good;
End-less is his stead-fast love.
Let his ran-somed speak his praise,
Who he has re-deemed from woe
And has gath-ered from the lands,
From the east, west, north, and south.
2. Some in des-erts wan-dered 'round,
Find-ing not a place to live;
Hun-gry, thirst-y they did roam.
Their souls faint-ed with-in them.
Then they cried out to the Lord,
And he saved them from dis-tress.
3. He led them straight-way unto
A cit-y where they could live.
To dry land he turns the streams,
Springs of wa-ter he dries up.
Fruit-ful land be-comes a waste,
When its peo-ple evil do.
4. Des-erts he turns into pools,
Parched land into flow-ing springs.
There he lets the hun-gry live,
And they build a place to dwell.
They sow fields, and vine-yards plant,
And they get a fruit-ful yield.
